About us
We are Lucy and Matt, working artists who live in Boston, MA. For years we have both taught painting with a large "paint and sip" business, and in 2026 began to dream of teaching classes on our own... and so began painterly, our own mobile paint class business! We have nearly 15 years of experience teaching painting between us, and we love to guide people of all backgrounds in the joyful process of painting.
We hope the process will feel as fun, relaxing and freeing
for you as it does for us.
Matt
Matt is an artist based in East Boston and a graduate of Emerson College. He creates oil paintings of local urban landscapes that examine light, architecture, and the quiet beauty found in everyday scenes. His work also reflects his low vision, exploring the softness and blur through which he perceives the world.
In addition to painting, Matt works in large-scale art, murals, scenic painting, and scenic painting education. As a painting instructor over the past four years, he has become known for his low soothing voice, clear guidance, and unexpected sense of humor.

Lucy
Lucy is an artist and arts facilitator living in Boston. She has been teaching paint night classes throughout New England for over a decade, and loves the sense of play and connection she finds in every class that she teaches.
Lucy has a background in realist figurative painting, and most recently studied Expressive Arts Therapy and Lesley University. She is curious about how creativity can be part of her own and others' healing: this question has guided her recent self-portrait paintings, as well as a series of playful sea creature paintings that she calls “The Novelty Friends.” Lucy is a Certified Focusing-Oriented Arts Facilitator, guiding individuals and groups in the process of sensing and creating art from their inner experience. She has a special interest in working with people with neurological and developmental differences.
